Professional Directory & Verification

Last updated: September 24, 2026

How the professional directory works, what verification badges do and do not mean, and what to check before hiring.

Akangbou Is a Venue

Professionals listed on Akangbou are independent businesses, not employees or agents of Akangbou. Akangbou is a venue that helps you find and communicate with them; we do not perform, supervise, or guarantee their work. Before hiring, confirm licensing, insurance, and bonding directly with the professional and your state or local licensing authority.

What Badges Mean

Verified (professional profiles)

Verified means Akangbou reviewed information or documents the professional submitted at a point in time. It is not a guarantee of licensing status, insurance coverage, workmanship, or legal compliance, which can change.

  • Depending on the professional, the review may include business identity, contact details, or license or insurance documents they uploaded.
  • We do not continuously monitor licensing boards or insurers. A license can lapse, be suspended, or be limited after we review it.
  • Verification does not mean Akangbou recommends, endorses, or guarantees the professional.

Official (events and clubs)

Marks events or clubs run by Akangbou itself. It does not apply to third-party organizers.

Ratings and reviews

Reviews are opinions of other users. We remove reviews that violate our policies (for example, fake or conflicted reviews) but do not verify every statement.

Before You Hire

  • Look up the professional’s license with your state or local contractor licensing board and confirm it covers your type and size of project.
  • Ask for a current certificate of insurance (general liability and, where applicable, workers’ compensation) and bonding details.
  • Get a written contract with scope, price, schedule, payment terms, warranty, and any cancellation rights required by your state’s home-improvement laws.
  • Confirm who is responsible for permits and inspections.
  • Avoid paying large sums up front; many states cap home-improvement deposits.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Hold every license, registration, bond, and insurance policy required for the work you advertise, and keep profile information accurate and current.
  • Only display license numbers you hold, and update or remove them promptly if they change.
  • Comply with advertising rules for licensed contractors in your jurisdiction (many states require your license number in advertisements).

Report a Problem

If a profile misrepresents licensing, insurance, or credentials, use the Report option or email support. We may remove badges, listings, or accounts.
