Cookie Policy

What this policy covers

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We also use browser local storage for similar purposes. This policy lists what Akangbou uses on the web, why, and how to control it. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party ad pixels.

Strictly necessary (always on)

Required for the site to work. They cannot be switched off in our preferences, but you can block them in your browser (sign-in and checkout will then fail).

• Supabase authentication cookies (names beginning “sb-”) that keep you signed in and refresh your session.
• Security and abuse prevention: request rate limiting keyed to your IP address (processed by Upstash; no cookie is set).
• Local storage “akangbou-theme” and “akangbou-storage” for your theme, sidebar state, recent searches, and filters on this device.
• Local storage “akangbou-privacy-consent” to remember your cookie choices and whether a Global Privacy Control signal was present.
• Stripe cookies set by Stripe on its checkout pages and payment fields for fraud prevention (governed by stripe.com/cookie-settings).

Analytics & performance (optional — off until you opt in)

• Vercel Web Analytics: privacy-friendly, cookieless page-view measurement using aggregated, anonymized data.
• Vercel Speed Insights: page-load performance metrics.
• First-party product analytics events that the browser sends to Akangbou when you use certain features (for example, the modular homes marketplace).

Session replay (optional — off until you opt in)

Sentry Session Replay records page structure and interactions so we can reproduce errors. All text is masked and all images/media are blocked before anything leaves your browser. Basic error reports (without replay) are sent to Sentry for all visitors because they are needed to keep the service secure and working; they exclude cookies and authorization headers.

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

• If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as an opt-out of sale/sharing and keep all optional categories off in that browser without showing the banner.
• Browsers’ legacy “Do Not Track” setting has no agreed standard, so we rely on GPC and your explicit choices instead.

Managing your choices

• Use “Your Privacy Choices” in the site footer (or visit /privacy/choices) to accept, reject, or customize optional categories at any time.
• Choices are stored per browser and device. Clearing site data resets them, and you will be asked again.
• Mobile apps do not use web cookies; manage push notifications in your device settings.
