Payments & Fees Policy

Last updated: November 22, 2025

How Akangbou handles card processing, platform fees, payouts, taxes, and disputes across events, quotes, and marketplace campaigns.

Supported Payment Methods

  • Stripe powers all card payments (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover).
  • ACH debit is available for enterprise event organizers—contact billing@akangbou.com to enable it.
  • We do not accept checks or crypto assets at this time.

Platform Fees

Events & Reservations

  • 5% platform fee + Stripe processing fee (2.9% + $0.30) charged only when reservations are captured.
  • Free events incur no fees.

Marketplace Campaigns

  • Marketplace campaigns are created and managed by Akangbou admins. Platform retains 100% of revenue from successful campaigns.
  • Users can pledge/pre-purchase during campaigns. Payments are authorized (held) until the campaign goal is reached.
  • If the campaign succeeds, payments are captured. If it fails, authorizations are canceled with no charges.

Influencer Program

  • $2.00 commission per qualifying referral seat plus platform revenue share outlined in the influencer agreement.
  • Commissions accrue monthly and are paid out once the balance exceeds $50.

Payouts to Organizers & Creators

  • Funds flow through Stripe Connect. You must complete KYC and link a bank account to withdraw.
  • Event payouts are initiated 3 business days after successful capture unless attendees report issues.
  • Marketplace payouts require shipment confirmation or proof of delivery milestones.

Taxes & Reporting

  • Organizers are responsible for collecting and remitting applicable sales or ticket taxes.
  • 1099-K forms are issued by Stripe when thresholds are met. Akangbou does not send duplicate forms.
  • Influencers and contractors receive 1099-NEC statements for commissions or service payments.

Chargebacks & Disputes

Stripe notifies us whenever a supporter disputes a charge. We share evidence provided by organizers or creators (shipping labels, attendance logs, signed contracts) to resolve the dispute. Multiple upheld disputes may result in higher reserves or removal from the platform.
